20 Self-awareness Actions

selfawareness

What Is Self-Awareness? Merriam-Webster says that it’s “an awareness of one’s own personality or individuality.” It is the capacity to be introspective about our own character, feelings, motivations, and desires. Sometimes this process can be daunting, as it requires us to uncover and face parts of ourselves that may not be so attractive.

As Henry David Thoreau says, “Explore thyself. Herein are demanded the eye and the nerve.” But having the nerve to look at our strengths, weaknesses, blind spots, and biases, we unlock new possibilities for our personal growth, relationships, and overall happiness and success in life.

20 Essential Self-awareness Actions:

1. Understand our personality.

2. Define our values.

3. Recognize our needs.

4. Define and set our boundaries.

5. Know our habits.

6. Understand our emotions.

7. Embrace our skills and talents.

8. Identify our strengths and weaknesses.

9. Understand our stress triggers.

10. Know what motivates us.

11. Identify and address limiting beliefs.

self-awareness

Self-awareness in these twenty areas empowers us to be fully ourselves, experience far more happiness in our relationships and our work, and be fully functioning, emotionally healthy adults.
